HIKES, WALKS... BAREFOOT OR BY BIKE..

The village of Montbazin lies at the heart of a protected Natura 2000 area, making it an exceptional site, particularly noteworthy in the Mediterranean region for its rich biodiversity of both flora and fauna, whose sanctuary is the famous “Garrigue”.

You’ll be immediately alerted by the sheer number of bird species living in and around the village, and by their intense activity from spring to autumn.

At the gateway to La Domitia, the 12km “collines de la Moure” hike offers 360° panoramic views of the Pic Saint Loup to the east, the Gardiole massif, Sète and Mont St Clair to the south, and the lagoon of Thau to the west.

This trail is signposted; download the Moure hills app and you’ll be accompanied by the voice of a local grandmother commenting on your route.

A little further on, you can follow in the footsteps of our millennia-old ancestors on the famous Via Domitia, the first road linking Rome to the Iberian Peninsula, which gave rise to the village of Montbazin.
traces left by the horse-drawn carts can still be clearly seen today.

Beyond that, within a 25-minute drive, there are hundreds of hiking trails. The Cévennes, the garrigue, the gorges of the Hérault: the landscapes and colors are varied and magnificent in every season.
Montbazin is at the heart of a network of several hundred kilometers of cycle paths, making it possible to cycle to almost every point of interest, and to enjoy beautiful pastoral or sporty rides.
You can rent electric bikes delivered free of charge to La Domitia: reservation at 06.59.15.17.75, Electric Bike https://electricbike34.fr/
